acadec

Competing in the 45th Mother Lode Regional ACADEC competition hosted by Tuolumne County Office of Education at Columbia College yesterday, February 3, Bret Harte ACADEC returns to the Pond with 43 medals and punched their return ticket to State.

Led by Senior Owen Gayle with six medals, three of those medals gold and the highest score in the speech competition with a speech about his cat, Leon, the Bullfrogs earned 43 medals competing in the theme, Technology and Humanity. Bret Harte earned at least two medals in each category.

Next month, Bret Harte will return to the California ACADEC State Competition scheduled for March 22-24 in Santa Clara. Representing Bret Harte in respective categories, will be: Senior Aurora Lewis, Senior Rebecca Hungerford, and Sophomore Cheyene Stephens (Honors); Senior Owen Gayle, Junior Isabella Becker, and Junior Amelia Baxter (Scholastic); Senior Delany Owens, Senior Jade McBride, and Junior Stella Stammerjohn (Varsity).

The Bullfrogs have earned a trip to the State Competition seven times over the past nine years.

Congratulations Bullfrogs!

"Bret Harte Drama’s Winter Comedy Show is back — a night of original sketches, improvisation, ducklings, podcasts, Travis Kelce, and bidets! Two shows, this Thursday February 8th, and Friday February 9th in the Theater at 7pm. Tickets are $5 at the door."

talent

Got talent? Want to do a fun act with your friends? A talent show is the perfect opportunity for students to showcase talents of any kind on a small-scale stage and perform for their friends, classmates, and teachers. Any student can sign up their act and participate in the show, and we are even inviting teachers to perform as well. We will have 3 judges, and there will be first, second, and third-place prizes ranging from money to gift cards. We will be holding the show during Pond on February 28 in the theater, so all students have the opportunity to not only perform but also come and watch others perform. We want to create something for students to look forward to during February, and with so few events going on, we think this is the perfect opportunity to create a fun and simple event.

A talent show has not been done at Bret Harte for a very long time, if at all, and we think this event is something that people will really look forward to. We hope that students participating will not only have fun, but also gain confidence in themselves and know their worth for being able to perform.

‘Everyone has talent. What's rare is the courage to follow it to the dark places where it leads.' ― Erica Jong.”
