Congratulations to Bret Harte Students of the Month for December, Addy Heermance and Makenna Tutthill, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary Luncheon on Thursday, December 7. The following information was shared about each student.

Addy Heermance: “No matter in which arena, Addy makes her mark, but in her own inimitably quiet way. Addy is no wall-flower, and engages in class and in sporting events with her whole being, while encouraging classmates and team members to never hold back. Addy has been the foundation of the track’s long-distance team, and a member of the three-time section champions for Cross Country. She not only sets high standards for herself, but with a soft-spoken yet positive patience, she helps teammates reach theirs. This is true not only in sports, but also in organizations such as FFA where Addy serves as Chapter President. With such a full plate, there is no unused time in her calendar, she also is a member of CSF and Academic Decathlon and leads as one of Bret Harte’s ASB officers. Within the community, Addy builds towards the future by volunteering her time in the Build America Community and the Ag Extravaganza. Addy’s top three school choices are Cal Poly SLO, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barabara. She plans to major in AG Business and her career path is to own an Ag sustainable business. Addie understandably wonders if there is something as spare time, but if there is any in her schedule, you might find her avidly reading “Hunger Games”.

Makenna Tutthill: “When viewing Makenna, one may make the mistake thinking there are two versions of her: in the classroom – focused, respectful, reserved, and in the field of competition - team player, unbridled joy, uncompromising effort. The truth is both Makenna’s are real and the same – the only difference is her volume. While avoiding the spotlight, Makenna redirects attention to her team members and classmates. She views no task as mundane such as set up or clean up, but as meaningful parts of the greater picture. A three-sport athlete, including a state-championship in basketball, and team captain in volleyball, Makenna balances time crunch balancing multiple AP courses along with membership in FFA, FCA, and CSF. She, too, is viewed as a role model as a student and an athlete, by staff & peers alike. Makenna awaits word on her early admission to Vanguard University where she will major in nursing and minor in kinesiology. She has also applied at UCLA and San Diego State. She plans to work as a pediatrician or a labor/delivery nurse. In her minimal free time, Makenna might be found skiing, surfing, or reading Colleen Hoover."  Photo courtesy of Mr. Nanik

Many schools may be out during December, however guest passes can be picked up from the office at any time, even now.

Any class may buy a Winter Formal dance ticket and go as long as they do not owe fees to the school or are on social probation. Grades are not a factor for dances.

senior social

Hello parents and students,

Your Sober Grad/ Senior Social committee, Class of 2024 is trying to give something spectacular for the graduates and their guests on the night of graduation. First and foremost is fundraising. We have lots in store, however everything requires a deposit and money. Even if you do not have a senior, would you mind sharing this website with friends and family and social media so that anyone can make donations? Look for a drive-thru dinner fundraiser event coming January 31st.

Go to https://www.bretharteseniorsocial.com/donate

There is also the capability for your student to make their own website to promote donations. Click on the “create a fundraiser” button and it will walk you through creating a fundraising link for your own student.

Sober Grad/ Senior Social committee, Class of 2024 is a group of volunteer parents and is not connected to Bret Harte High School. If you are unable to donate money or pass along the link for others to donate, we will also have volunteer hours available as we get closer to the event. Thank you!

Please pick your trash! Respect your campus. If you use it toss it and recycle it.

Recycling! We have new big brown recycling bins. They are outside around campus. Please put empty bottles & cans, paper and cardboard, including card stock food containers without food in them. NO PLASTIC STRAWS, NO MILK/JUICE CARTONS & NO PLASTIC WRAPPERS.
