Congratulations to the Students of the Month for February, Manny Bettencourt and Cosimo Nesci, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today Thursday, February 20 in Murphys. The following information was shared about Manny and Cosimo.
Manny Bettencourt: “Manny is an individual with solid focus and far vision. Described as a polite, soft-spoken man, he has proudly represented Bret Harte on the gridiron for four years, but his true passion is on the mat as a wrestler. He has also been a member of the San Joaquin Dual Team. In his efforts to give back to the wrestling community, Manny has spent many years coaching future grapplers within the Ebbets Pass Wrestling club. For his future vision, Manny is considering enrolling at Oklahoma Westlyn where he can extend his dream competing. In terms of his schooling, Manny would like to major in criminal justice to pursue a career in law enforcement. Manny loves his food, as do many wrestlers, but has a special live for BBQing steaks; You can bet his heart makes room to share for the many people in his circle.”
Cosimo Nesci: “It may seem unusual to acknowledge an exchange student from Italy as a SOM recipient, but Cosimo could pass as an American student who arrived home from study abroad. He has maintained a balance of taking notes on American idiosyncrasies from teachers and classmates which he will share when he gets home, as well as sharing his culture and knowledge of his Italian culture. Cosimo has fully immersed himself in Bullfrog culture, participating in various activities and sports and is a multi-medalist at the tri-county Academic Decathlon last month, He will represent Bret Harte at the state level in March at Santa Clara. The path for Cosimo’s future is not totally clear due to his passion for many subjects, especially mathematics and physical science, so it would not be surprising to see him major in engineering. No matter which path Cosimo chooses, there will be no limits to his efforts.”
