Welcome to the first ever Bret Harte Ski and Snowboard Race team as a Winter Sport. There will be a meeting in Drag's Room 37 at lunch, the first day back to school next week on Wednesday, November 12th. This is not ski club, but an actual Winter Sport. Dryland Training is starting now, so please make it to the mandatory meeting on Wednesday at lunch so we can get all athletes cleared in Sports Net and get all information out to those that want to join. |

PEYTON HEERMANCE; BRET HARTE'S FIRST NATIONAL FFA PROFICIENCY CHAMPION |
ANGELS CAMP, CA – Senior Peyton Heermance earned national honors Friday, October 31st in Indianapolis when he was declared the 2025 National FFA Agricultural Proficiency in Veterinary Science Champion at the 98th National FFA Convention & Expo. Heermance was also named the California FFA State Veterinary Science Proficiency Award Champion in April at the 97th Annual California State FFA Leadership Conference. "Peyton’s achievement as a National FFA Proficiency Champion in Veterinary Science is monumental for the Bret Harte Bullfrogs,” shared Scott Nanik, superintendent. “He is the first Proficiency Champion from our school to reach this national pinnacle. His dedication and passion have truly set a new standard for excellence."
Heermance is the first Bullfrog to become a National FFA Proficiency Champion. He joins the elite few who are National Champions, such as Elaine Jordan ’13 in First High Poultry Judging and the 2010 Poultry Team comprised of Trevor Airola, Amie French, Clay Kruse, and Breanna Roque. “After Peyton qualified for Nationals in April, he attacked the application with enthusiasm and great attention to detail as we knew he had a skillset that few students his age possess,” shared Jackson Sawyer, Bret Harte FFA Chapter Advisor. “This year-long project which included record book preparation, application drafts, and interview readiness, Peyton remained coachable at every level and worked incredibly hard to tell the story of his project and it all paid off!” added Sawyer. Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through supervised agricultural experiences, have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers. To learn more visit the National FFA Organization. The Bret Harte FFA Chapter was founded in 1973 and serves over 250 FFA members in Calaveras County.
